A police officer is being called “Superman” after grabbing onto a van and stopping it from falling off a bridge until other first responders could arrive.

Martin Willis, a highway officer in West Yorkshire, England, responded to a car crash Friday morning. When he arrived, he found a van teetering on the edge of a bridge.

He tweeted out an image of the terrifying scene.

“After holding on to the vehicle to stop it swaying in the wind I can’t begin to describe my relief when West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue arrived on scene,” Willis wrote on Twitter.

Photos show the van balancing precariously on its side on the narrow edge of a bridge.

People on Twitter praised the officer for his quick thinking.

“Your superman cape isn’t in this photo though! Must have come off in the fracas!” wrote user PC Adam Pace.
