WICHITA, Kan. – A police officer was recognized for his generosity, helping a Kansas family get what they needed after a fire destroyed their home.

Earlier this month, a family of seven was on their way to a church event when a fire destroyed their home, KAKE reports.

Beth Peacock is the mother to an 8-month-old and a 3-year-old. She and her husband are also fostering four other children. The family was devastated by the tragedy.

“I was just really upset, just crying, and Officer Spaulding had come over and talked to me,” said Beth Peacock. “He had said he had a sister that had breast fed and she had some left over breast milk, so she donated hat to us.”

Officer Chad Spaulding has been helping the family gather everyday household items and even has replaced Christmas gifts for them.

The family couldn’t be more grateful.

“Officer Spaulding had made sure that we had hats, gloves, everything, diapers, wipes cuppies for the little kids, bottles,” said Peacock.
