“My cousin found this photo on her computer, and she sent it over to me on my phone to laugh about how we looked when we were younger,” Koliqi told Yahoo Lifestyle.

The photo shows Verona posing on a beach in Montenegro. As Mirand looked at the photo, he commented that he had the same shorts and floaties as a kid in the background, Verona recounted in an Instagram post.

“He said, ‘Hold up, I think that’s me! We both looked at each other and said, ‘No way, that can’t be true,’” she said.

Though they never met on the beach in Kosovo, Verona and Mirand met years later while Verona was on a trip to London.

The Instagram post recounting the unbelievable story garnered more than 31,000 likes.

The surprise convinced the pair that they are soulmates.

“I never knew something like this could happen, even though I’ve heard a saying: ‘You will have passed your soul mate at least once way before you actually meet up,’” said Verona.
