A husband and wife have something to celebrate after finding one special object among the charred ruble of their Ventura, California home.

Don and Julie Myers evacuated their California neighborhood when the Thomas Fire started approaching, KEYT reports. They finally returned home this week to find only charred remains of their home.

The couple didn’t expect to find anything salvageable, so they were shocked when Don found Julie’s original wedding ring among the rubble.

Don immediately got down on one knee in the middle of their burned home and proposed a second time.

Despite their devastating loss, the couple is counting their blessings. According to KEYT, Julie joked that she’s just glad she doesn’t have to do the dishes anymore.
