Ikea announced Tuesday that it will offer longer maternity and paternity leave to U.S. employees.

The furniture chain will now offer its 13,000 salaried and hourly employees up to four months of paid paternal leave, effective Jan. 1.

The policy will apply to both mothers and fathers. The Associated Press reports the company previously allowed women giving birth five days of paid leave in addition to eight weeks of paid disability leave.

“We want them to take time off,” Lars Petersen, president of Ikea’s U.S. division, told the Associate Press. “The home is our arena. We think the home is the most important place for people.”
