ROCKLEDGE, Fl. – A mother whose son died when he was just 15 months old marked what would have been his first day of kindergarten with a donation to the school.

On Monday, mom Courtney Scott dropped off $1,500 worth of school supplies to Manatee Elementary in Rockledge, Florida, where her son, Carsyn, would have started kindergarten this year.

In 2012, Carsyn accidentally drowned in a neighbor’s pond, Florida Today reports.

Courtney knew she wanted to mark what would have been Carsyn’s first day of kindergarten with something special.

“My biggest worry is that he would be forgotten by friends and family,” Courtney told CBS News.

She came up with the idea of raising money for a school supply drive. Through a Facebook event, Courtney was able to raise more than $1,500 and put all the money towards school supplies.

With a bit of sorrow, she delivered the donations to the school Monday morning.

“I didn’t get to walk into kindergarten with Carsyn, but I was able to walk in with his memory and that was special,” said Scott.
