EL PASO, Tex. – A 13-year-old boy in El Paso, Texas is celebrating his bar mitzvah by helping others.

Drew Frank recently celebrated his 13th birthday with friends and family at an extravagant, sneaker-themed birthday party. Instead of gifts, Drew asked for cash donations, totaling more than $25,000 KTRK reports.

But instead of using that money for himself, Drew partnered with the Braden Aboud Foundation to buy 800 pairs of Nike shoes and 800 pairs of socks for those in need.

More than 400 of those donations were given to needy elementary school kids in his area. The rest of the shoes will be distributed to an orphanage and a transitional living center.

“It’s an amazing feeling to give back to them,” said Drew.
