A teenage boy battling a fatal brain tumor is thanking his police department for helping him realize his dreams.
Ayodeji “Augustine” Adekilekun, 14, first met Dallas, Texas police officer Rashid Brown at his middle school. At the time, he was suffering from a brain tumor, but doctors have since told the family his condition is terminal, according to Inside Edition.
Since he was a child, Augustine dreamed of becoming a police officer. The Dallas Police Department decided to make his dream come true by making him “chief of the day.”
The officers visited Augustine, who can’t speak and is confined to his bed because of the progression of his illness.
“This is the reason we became police,” Hall said. “It truly touched each and every one of us.”
