COFFEE COUNTY, Ga. – A teenager with Down syndrome is getting a lot of attention for her stunning debut as prom queen.

Kema Paulk is a cheerleader at Coffee High School in Georgia.

“She never let Down syndrome keep her away from her dreams,” Coffee County Schools wrote on their Facebook page.

Paulk is a cheerleader and will walk across the stage in May to graduate with her class, earning her high school diploma.

On the night of her crowning, Paulk said she wanted her late father to see her.

“She didn’t make it yesterday,” wrote Tanikki Carswell in a caption alongside a photo of Paulk at her father’s grave. “But I made sure she came today.”

A Facebook post honoring Paulk’s crowning and all her accomplishments has been shared more than 6,000 times.
