Nearly year after losing his wife, Joey Feek, to cancer, Rory Feek is reflecting on their time together as a couple.

Rory Feek won a Grammy Sunday for the album “Hymns That Are Important to Us,” a gospel album recorded with his wife as she battled cancer.

He said more than the Grammy win, he’s excited to celebrate his daughter’s third birthday.

“She turns three Friday,” Rory told NBC’s Matt Lauer. “So as exciting as the Grammy’s are, that’s a little more exciting for us.”

Rory told Lauer that he still refers to Joey in the present tense.

“I think it’s because she’s so present in my life,” said Rory. “I don’t know how I would feel, but I feel her everywhere I go. I feel the choices she made, I feel the strength that she had and the love that she has for me and our family.”

Rory’s new book, This Life I Live, which shares his love story with Joey, is on sale now.

…I've got my hat, she's got my heart.
