ALEXANDRIA, Ind. – Joey Feek made the brave decision to enter hospice care earlier this month and has been battling through her final days like a champion.
But sometimes, it gets hard.
Joey, part of the country duo Joey + Rory, is battling stage 4 cervical cancer.
Her husband, Rory Feek, posted to their blog Monday about the recent snowfall in Indiana, where she is living out her last days, and the comfort the snowy sight brought Joey on a particularly hard day.
Rory wrote that Joey had gotten emotional just minutes before the snow started to fall.
“…I tried to put my arms around her and asked ‘what’s wrong,'” Rory wrote on their blog. “And then through her tears, she said the words, the ones I knew she felt, but never said before… ‘I want to raise our baby,'” she cried and her tears fell harder.”
Joey and Rory have a one-year-old daughter, Indiana.
As she cried, the snow began to fall outside.
“An then, just like that – over my shoulder, through the window she saw it… Snow,” wrote Rory. “‘I didn’t think I’d get to see snow again.’ And she looked at me, then raised her eyes up at the sky and said ‘If this is the last snow I ever see, thank you Jesus… thank you.'”
Rory said that was just what Joey needed to see in that moment.
“God sent us just what we needed… just when we needed it. He always does,” wrote Rory.
