DES MOINES, Iowa – A police officer sobbed in the arms of a stranger as she delivered food and water to him following the shooting deaths on two Des Moines-area officers.

Footage captured by KCCI shows a woman approach a police officer, offering him a case of water and and some snacks.

“This is the only way I know how to help is to feed,” the woman told the officer as she started to cry.

She gave the officer a hug and said, “I want you to go home to your families because I want my dad to come home to me. And I want my friends to come home to me and I’ll pray for you all and I don’t how else to help. I don’t know what else to do,” she said.

The police officer started to cry as he hugged her.

“Your prayers are all we need,” he said.

Police arrested Scott Michael Gree, 46, in connection with the ambush-style attacks. Officials say both officers were inside their cruisers Wednesday morning when they were shot and killed.
