Rory Feek of country duo Joey + Rory says his wife, who is battling cancer, will move to hospice care Tuesday.

Rory wrote on his blog that they are both at peace with the difficult decision. His wife is battling Stage IV cervical cancer.

“Not the answer we hoped for,” Rory wrote, “But the answer He has given us.”

In August, Rory, Joey and their daughter Indy made the trip down from their home in Tennessee to metro Atlanta where Joey received treatment at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Newnan.

By Oct. 23, doctors told them the tumors were continuing to spread aggressively despite treatment.

“So we did what you do when the medicine isn’t working,” wrote Rory. “We came home.”

The family has been back home in Tennessee enjoying the little time they have left together, but on Friday, Joey was rushed to the hospital with severe pain.

“Her pain had become too much to bear. A few hours later the doctors told us that her pain was from the cancer tumors continuing to grow and become inflamed and we need to concentrate now on helping her be comfortable,” Rory wrote.

For the past few days, Rory has brought their one-year-old daughter, Indiana, to the hospital.

“Both of their eyes light up the moment they see each other,” wrote Rory. “It’s been beautiful.”

Shortly after Indiana, or Indy, was born, Joey was diagnosed.

The two played together until Indy fell asleep.

“Joey held her and sang ‘In The Garden’ and other hymns as she softly stroked her silky-blonde hair,” wrote Rory. “Perfect love filled that hospital room as we all held our breath and wiped our eyes.”

They say their journey has been difficult, but they are both okay with how it will end.

“Joey is at peace with where she is and where she’s going,” wrote Rory. “So am I.”
