AVERILL PARK, N.Y. – A woman is being called a hero after saving a truck driver who crashed after choking.
Sandra Ogden works at Sassinating Salon and Spa in Averill Park, New York. She had just finished with a client when she heard a loud noise outside.
That’s when she spotted a large truck that had skidded off the road and into a nearby telephone pole.
“It looked like it was gonna take Pied Square out,” Ogden told WTEN.
She saw the driver roll out of the truck onto his hands and knees.
Ogden rushed over to him and realized he was choking. She performed the Heimlich, without any formal training, and saved him.
“He’s a pretty big guy, and I just tried to do the best I could to kind of like hug him,” said Ogden.
The driver had no idea what had just happened.
“He just closed his eyes and he said, ‘Oh god please tell me I didn’t hurt anybody’ and I assured him, no,” said Ogden.
Thankfully, no one was hurt in the accident.
