PROVO, Utah –¬†A family is mourning the death of their 3-year-old daughter after a tragic accident at home.

Elsie Mahe passed away several days after her mother found her with the cord of some blinds wrapped around her neck at their Utah home. Mom Sunny¬†performed CPR before she was transported to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City.

Elise is the daughter of Brigham Young University coach and former NFL player Reno Mahe. The family decided to donate Elsie’s organs, hoping to help other children in need.

Sunny has been posting updates to Facebook.

“As we enter this Christmas season, I believe many of you will be tempted to feel sorry for me for having to endure this experience right around the holidays. However, I will treasure the opportunity to remember my sweet Elsie every year at this time and reflect upon the true meaning of this Christmas,” wrote Sunny.

Funeral arrangements are still being made. A GoFundMe page is raising money to help the family with funeral and medical costs.
