A koala is safe after a driver found the critter crammed inside his car’s wheel well after a 10-mile journey.

The driver found the koala tucked behind his car’s wheel after stopping at his destination in Adelaide, Australia, the Associated Press reports. The driver said he was alerted to the animal when he heard her cries coming from the wheel well. Animal rescuers quickly arrived to pull the koala to safety. Amazingly, she survived with just a few scratches.

“You think you’ve seen it all. No, I’ve never seen anything like that and it’s absolutely incredible,” Fauna Rescue worker Jane Brister told the Associated Press.

The koala was cleaned up and released back into the wild after a week of monitoring.
