JURUPA VALLEY, Calif. – A three-legged kitten who survived a horrific injury has been adopted by a little girl who lost her arm to cancer.

The kitten, named Doc, was taken in by 2-year-old Scarlette and her family, KABC reports.

When Scarlette was just 10 months old, her left arm had to be amputated due to cancer. The surgery was a success and Scarlette is now cancer-free.

The family had been searching for the perfect pet that Scarlette could relate to, and form a special bond with. That’s when they heard about Holly.

When two women found little Holly, she was injured and bleeding. Veterinarians had to amputate her front paw.

The Tiptons say they named the kitten “Doc” after Scarlette’s favorite cartoon character, Doc McStuffins.

The family says they can’t wait to see their relationship grow.
