Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest have been co-hosting “Live with Kelly and Ryan” together now for almost five months. Before that, Ripa sat next to multiple guest co-hosts while they were trying to pick a permanent replacement. As Ripa told Hot Topics host Heather Catlin, she always had her eye on Seacrest.
“Many, many years ago we co-hosted together and felt like we should work together,” Ripa revealed to Catlin in front of her “Live” audience.
“Quite frankly, it wasn’t really possible. He was a west coaster, I was a east coaster, it just never fit. Then American Idol went away and I was as depressed as I ever was, and he called me and was like, should I move to New York? I was like, yes!”
Ryan said he’s juggling his jobs well, but soon American Idol will be coming back on ABC. He told Catlin “Live” is not moving to Los Angeles. Idol is simply making adjustments to make sure he can do both Live and Idol at the same time.
“To come back is great. It will be in Los Angeles. They’re going to set it up on a night where I can be there and then be here the next morning with Kelly so I never miss a show,” said Seacrest.
