MIAMI – At 80 years old, a bride has finally found her groom, and she says he was worth the wait.
Maria Teresa Cobar, 80, met Carlos Victor Suarez, 95, at the Aventura Plaza Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Miami.
Carlos remembers seeing Maria on his first day there.
“It was love at first sight,” Suarez told the Miami Herald. “When I saw her, my heart filled with joy.”
Carlos’ wife died in 2006. Maria never had a husband before Carlos. She moved to the U.S. as a single mother. Her daughter always came first.
“My mom never worried about looking for a husband. I was her priority her entire life,” said Ana Cobar. “The day has come and I’m so happy for her. She deserves this.”
The couple had their wedding at the ballroom in the nursing home. They will be living together in the honeymoon suite from now on.
“I’ve been lonely for many years, this is a great blessing from God,” said Cobar. “It feels wonderful. I feel butterflies in my stomach… It is never too late to find love.”
