KENNER, La. – With the nation so divided after a series of shootings and protests, one photo is making rounds on social media for its simple, yet inspiring, message.

As Depak Saini was leaving a Target store in Kenner, Louisiana, it started to downpour. Many shoppers were waiting out the storm before heading to their cars, but Saini noticed one man went the extra mile.

The man in the photo opened up his umbrella and escorted women and children one-by-one to their cars.

Saini captured a photo of the touching moment and posted it to Facebook.

“Right now we seem so focused on race and are letting ourselves be painfully divided,” Saini wrote on Facebook. “Kindness is something we all need to give to each other right now and let this man be an example.

WGNO managed to track the man in the photo down. He didn’t think he did anything extraordinary.

“People are people. Help. It doesn’t matter who you are. It doesn’t matter what you do. It doesn’t matter if you’re the richest person in the world or the poorest person in the world,” James told WGNO. “Somebody needs help? Help them.”
