Nothing can prepare you for the life-changing experience of parenting your first child.

Prince William and Duchess Kate discussed the difficulties they faced in the days following Prince George’s birth in a video shared to promote mental health awareness.

“Having a child, particularly your first child, is such a life-changing moment,” said Kate. “Nothing can really prepare you for that.”

She said the first few days were the most difficult.

“I remember the first few days with little George, you really have no idea what you’re doing,” recalled Kate. “No matter how many books you read, nothing can prepare you for it.”

“Because there’s no rule book, there’s no training that teaches you how to do it. You just learn from previous generations,” agreed William.

Prince William also talked about how losing his mother brought him closer to Prince Harry. Kate commemorated them on their strong relationship as brothers.

“We have been brought closer because of the circumstances as well,” William told Kate. “You are uniquely bonded because of what we’re been through.
