A boy suffering from a life-threatening seizure disorder got a chance to meet the giraffes beloved by all, April and her new calf Tajiri.

Alex Johnson of Avon, Ohio, can barely talk and is visually impaired, but when the Make-A-Wish foundation approached his family about giving him a special experience, his family knew exactly what his wish would be.

Alex and his family visited Animal Adventure Park in New York to meet April and her new calf. They all spent weeks watching the live stream of April the giraffe on YouTube .

“I can’t believe that we’re here, actually, because we watched online for so long,” Dawn Johnson, Alex’s mother, told WHDH.

Alex’s family said the special trip was a welcomed break from their usually stressful days.

“For us to be out of our home, out of our normal worries, day to day stuff, just life, it’s been fantastic. It’s fantastic just to get away,” said Johnson.
