An image of a 93-year-old man at a restaurant eating a meal alongside a framed photo of his late wife is melting hearts around the country.

Clarence Purvis and his wife, Carolyn, met in 1948 in Reidsville, Ga. She was just 16, and he was 24. The two quickly fell in love and got married the next year.

“Ain’t nobody loved one another more than me and my wife loved one another,” Clarence told WTOC. “I wanted what she wanted, and she wanted what I wanted.”

The two grew old together, and for the past 13 years, they regularly dined at Smith’s Restaurant, a popular spot in their south Georgia town. But since Carolyn passed away in 2013, Clarence has been dining solo.

Clarence always makes sure to bring along a framed photo of his bride every time he comes to the restaurant. He sets it up at his favorite table as he enjoys his meal.

“She was always with me when we were living. She’s with me now,” said Clarence.

A photo of Clarence at the restaurant has been making the rounds on social media. People are touched by his love for his wife.

Joyce James, the restaurant’s owner, said, “I asked my husband, I said, ‘You know if something happened to me, will you put my picture on the table?’ He said, ‘I don’t think so dear.’ He said, ‘I love you but, that might be a little much.’”
