An 11-year-old girl badly burned allegedly by her own friends at a sleepover has been released from the hospital.

Jamoneisha Meritt of New York City was at a sleepover on August 7 when her 12-year-old friend allegedly poured boiling hot water on her as she slept, WABC reports.

Jamoneisha spent 11 days recovering at a hospital in Harlem from second-degree burns. She was released Friday.

“She’s so amazing — she’s in good spirits,” Ebony Merritt, Jamoneisha’s mother, told Inside Edition. “Her friends have come over and she’s in here dancing and listening to music.”

According to a post by Ebony on GoFundMe, doctors didn’t allow her daughter to look in the mirror to see the extent of the burns.

WABC reports the 12-year-old girl was charged as a juvenile and the case will be handled in family court.

Jamoneisha’s family is asking for donations to help cover medical costs.

“We also want to make sure that she attends counseling to make sure we heal her insides as well as her outside,” wrote Ebony.
