KENT, England – A mother of twin girls conjoined at birth says she never thought she’d see the day they went off to school, and she couldn’t be happier.
Rosie and Ruby Formosa of Kent, England were born connected at the abdomen.
Mom Angela Formosa said she was devastated when she learned the news at her 16-week check up.
“I was really, really, really scared and really upset because at that point I was told that there was a high possibility that the girls wouldn’t survive the pregnancy,” Formosa told Sky News.
Doctors successfully separated the girls and now, four years later, they are heading off for their first day of school.
“I was kind of taking each day at a time and I never thought this far ahead, to see them today and how far they’ve come,” Angela told the Press Association, “I always knew they were going to be strong because they survived. It is amazing.”
