CASTLEWOOD, Va. – A 6-year-old boy wants to make sure everyone has a merry Christmas this year.
Jedd Winebarger of Castlewood, Virginia has bought more than 300 gifts for kids in need. When he decided he wanted to help other kids, he got some crayons and paper and started to make drawings.
“I saw a spark in his eyes and he said, ‘Mommy, I want to sell my pictures and take the money and buy kids toys for Christmas that may not have a Christmas,'” Mom Crystal Winebarger told ABC News. “I said, ‘Who are you going to sell them to? He said, ‘Anybody.'”
His family advertised the drawing on Facebook, and soon he had sold enough drawings and collected enough donations to buy more than 380 gifts.
“You could think of a 10 or 12-year-old doing this, but six,” Jedd’s sister Datesia Powers told WCYB. “Somebody so young and so small has the biggest heart you’ll ever see.”
The family will donate the gifts to organizations like Toys for Tots and the Angel Tree. They will also help foster families and local hospitals.
