A Memphis woman who is accused of hitting and killed a pedestrian Thursday night has seven prior DUI convictions, according to police.
Just before 10:30 p.m., police say Linda Cartwright struck a pedestrian with her vehicle and fled. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses gave police a description of Cartwright’s vehicle. She was located at her home.
Cartwright told police she had just left a casino in West Memphis and “hadn’t been drinking that much.” She refused to take a BAC test.
Linda Cartwright was charged with vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident.
Cartwright’s record showed that she has seven prior DUI convictions.
She is set to appear in court on Monday.
