FRESNO, Calif. –¬†A mother who battled cervical cancer throughout her pregnancy died just one day after welcoming twins.

Family members told KSFN that Jamie Snider, 30, of Fresno, California, already beat cancer once and lost an ovary in the process.

She got pregnant with twins and was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cervical cancer in the early stages of her pregnancy.

“They couldn’t give her too much chemo because it would affect the development of the babies,” Snider’s brother, Chris Snider, told KGO. “She made sure, she made sure those babies would live. She traded her life.”

She was all-smiles last week when she posted a photo to Facebook, announcing that the next morning, she would give birth to her twins via c-section, then undergo a radial hysterectomy afterwards.

One day later, her heart failed, and she died.

“What gives me peace in my heart is she got to see those babies and hold them and be with them a little bit,” said her friend Larina Campanile.

The babies were born prematurely, weighing about 3.5 pounds each.

A family friend told Inside Edition that the babies’ father is heartbroken.

“He’s emotional. He’s having a hard time. He’s definitely scared,” said family friend Christine Oliver. “He’s alone with two tiny infants who are both fragile.”

In addition to her new twins, Snider leaves behind two daughters, Aubrey and Maddy.
