GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A police officer is getting a lot of attention for making a young boy’s day one to remember.
The boy’s mother, Heidi, shared a touching message and photos of the encounter with the police department.
According to the letter, an officer responded to a call near the boy’s house. The curious 5-year-old with aspirations to become a police officer drove up in his Power Wheels police car and watched intently.
That’s when the officer drove up in his actual police car and let the boy sit in the car and push buttons. Before saying goodbye, he even shared badge stickers with the boy.
“Thank you, and a huge thank you to Officer Ickes. Our community needs more like him,” wrote Heidi.
