SANTA FE, Tx. – A little boy who was about to be late for school took the time to stop and say the Pledge of Allegiance before heading to class.

Heather Nelson posted a photo of her son, Royce, with his head bowed in front of his Texas elementary school.

She said she dropped him off at school and was watching him hurry in to make it in time when he suddenly stopped in his tracks and bowed his head.

Other kids were rushing past Royce to get to class, be he didn’t move a muscle.

“I was saying ‘Royce… Go! Go!'” Heather wrote on Facebook. “Well he didn’t budge and I thought, ‘What is this child doing?'”

A police officer standing nearby explained to the mother what was going on.

“The officer said, ‘Mom he’s doing good, he stopped for the Pledge of Allegiance ( and then she puts her hand over her heart to show me) and now he’s praying,'” wrote Heather.

Heather said she couldn’t be more proud of her son.

“This is such a beautiful picture,” wrote Heather.
