Hospitals celebrate positive milestones in many different ways: parties, balloons, cake.

At MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper Hospital, the end of chemotherapy is marked with the recitation of a poem and three rings of a bell.

“You’re a rock star,” Priyanka Chugh wrote to Abby Shapova after her commemorative ringing. “So glad we were able to see you ring that bell!”

Shapova herself studied medicine at the Cooper Medical School at Rowan University.

Here is the poem Shapova recited:

“Ringing out”

Ring this bell
Three times well
Its toll to clearly say,

My treatment’s done
This course is run
And I am on my way!
