A Maryland couple said they were forced to move out of their house because massive rat snakes already lived there. The family’s 4-year-old son found the first snake, a 7-foot long reptile, just months after they moved in.

“They lived inside the shell of the tub and they went along the wall and up the wall to the attic where they could chase food,” said homeowner Jeff Brooks.

The family brought in a pest control company to gut the basement -– formerly the children’s playroom -– and the company found snake tunnels throughout the insulation.

The family has hired a lawyer and is suing the seller and her realtor for not disclosing the snake infestation. The Brooks are seeking $2 million to cover the price of the home, the pest control and other related expenses as well as $1 million in punitive damages.
