A mother and daughter embraced in a tearful reunion, 34 years in the making.

Jennie Sandoval Sanders gave her daughter up for adoption more than 3 decades ago. She was just 17 years old at the time, according to Inside Edition.

“I was afraid she was going to hate me and be angry at me,” Sandoval Sanders wrote in a Facebook post.

Since then, 50-year-old Sandoval Sanders and 34-year-old Dina Hardaway reunited.

The reunion was captured on video by Love What Matters.

“There was never one ounce of negative feeling about it,” Hardaway told Inside Edition. “I’ve always thought it was the most selfless thing [she] could do. It’s hope. She took a gamble.”

Hardaway began her mission to find her mother years ago. She posted to an online forum for the Chaparral Adoption Agency, who organized her adoption.

Two years later, Sandoval Sanders reached out. They started talking hesitantly at first in 2011. They didn’t meet face-to-face until Thanksgiving that year.

Their story is getting lots of attention years later, after it was posted to social media.
