DE SOTO, MO – A mother battling cancer is thanking a generous roofer for answering her desperate plea for help.

Jonnna Wiley climbed up on a ladder in November to try to fix her roof. A leak had opened up and was showering her daughter while she slept.

As she climbed up on the ladder, Wiley slipped and hit the porch underneath. She went to the hospital and learned a traumatic brain injury wasn’t even the worst of her problems.

She also learned she had thyroid cancer according to KTVI.

She posted a video to Facebook begging for help with the roof.

“That’s all I’m asking for is a safe place for me and my family to live,” she said the the video.

More than 6 months went by and no one responded. Then, out of the blue, Edward Aguado of Edwards Roofing and Repair reached out.

“I was in a position where I could help and I wanted to help. It’s as simple as that,” said Aguado.

A friend told Aguado about Wiley’s video, and soon he showed up at her door offering his help.

His company donated a brand new roof for her worth around $10,000.

“I want to thank you. A handshake’s not right,” said Wiley. “Seriously, not worrying about it raining.”
