JOHNSTON, Iowa – A family is thanking two police officers for buying a new pair of shoes for their 2-year-old son whose sneakers were worn out.
Johntel Osby desperately needed a new pair of shoes. His had holes in them and were too small.
“That was one thing that I was stressing and worrying about — trying to figure out how I was going to get him the shoes he needs,” mom Tamika Osby told KCCI.
Tamika said Johntel’s dad promised he would buy a new pair of shoes this month. When he turned up empty handed, the couple got into a bad fight at their Johnson, Iowa home.
Tamika called police, who did more than cool the situation. In fact, they came back to the home the next day with a brand new pair of shoes for the rambunctious toddler.
“I was shocked,” said Tamika. “Everything is on the news about police officers doing this, police officers doing that, and for him to care so much just lets me know that there are good people out there.”
Johntel loves his new shoes. He even tries to sleep in them. The officers say they were just doing their job.
