A group of police officers are helped give a group of girls growing up without their fathers a night to remember.

The Chicago Police Department sponsored the event. Several officers stepped in and escorted young girls whose fathers couldn’t be there.

“The dance was to not only bring fathers and daughters together but also to build relationships between the community and the police,” Officer Claudette Knight told Inside Edition.

The event this year had more than 150 girls attend – more than double the number from last year.
