SAN ANTONIO, Tex. – A police officer is getting a lot of attention after catching three children as they jumped from a burning apartment building.
Officer Tim Bowen with the San Antonio police department responded to an apartment fire before fire crews arrived. He says he heart their screams when he pulled in around 8 a.m. Monday.
The three kids, ages 7, 8 and 9, jumped from the second floor of the building into Bowen’s arms.
Bowen says a 4-year-old boy was still inside, panicking.
“He was scared,” Bowen told KSAT.
Firefighters arrived moments later, and managed to bring him outside safely.
“Everything else is material,” Jakim Cunningham, the mother of two of the children said. “As long as we’re living, I’m blessed for that.”
The San Antonio Fire Department posted a photo of the kids to Twitter just hours later, showing the kids smiling alongside their hero officer.
