CHICAGO – A man who spent one year recording an epic video for his proposal to the love of his life is now engaged.

Josh Schmitz asked Danielle Roesch to marry him in Chicago on August 19.

A video shows Josh holding up a white board everyday for a year, with a different message for his soon-to-be wife.

Many times, Josh secretly recorded the message when they were together.

About 50 family and friends were there for the big proposal. Josh kept it all a surprise from Danielle the whole time.

He sent her a fake invitation for an event near Lake Michigan. When everyone arrived, they played the 20-minute-long movie Josh spent one year making.

He was waiting by the lake with a ring and a very important question.

Of course, she said yes. The happy couple celebrated with their family and friends all night long.
