BILLINGS, Mont. – A high school is rallying behind a classmate with Down syndrome, electing her as homecoming queen during this year’s festivities.

Aspyn Schnetter is a senior at Billings Senior High in Montana. She has been a part of the JV cheer program all four years of high school.

The stadium erupted into cheers when she was crowned homecoming queen.

When the story was shared by KTVQ on Facebook, Aspyn’s two grandmothers chimed in, saying she deserved every vote.

“I’d like to mention also that the students at Billings Senior High School could teach the world a thing or two about compassion, love, and kindness! They rock!!” wrote grandma Jo Heinrich Schreibeis.
