TAMPA, Fla. – A community is coming together to help a dog who put himself in harm’s way to save a little girl from a rattlesnake bite.

Donya DeLuca said her daughter, Molly, and her grandmother were in their Tampa, Florida backyard when their German shepherd spotted a diamondback rattlesnack.

The dog, names Haus, didn’t hesitate to jump between the two, and ended up getting bitten three times. Molly escaped without a scratch thanks to Haus.

“There’s no doubt he was protecting out family,” DeLuca told WTSP.

The dog was quickly taken to a hospital where he was put on an antivenin drip. Haus was also given a blood transfusion.

A GoFundMe account set up to help the family with medical costs has already raised more than $47,000.

Molly says she’s grateful to everyone who has donated to Haus.

“They are sweet, and kind, and nice because they’re caring about Haus,” said Molly.
