OMAHA, Neb. – An 11-year-old girl whose scalped on a carnival ride saw her reflection for the first time Wednesday. He mother says she handled it well.

“Lulu is stronger than me. My baby girl saw herself for the first time today. The way she handle it gave me strength,” her mom Virginia Cooksey wrote on Facebook.

Elizabeth Gilreath goes by Lulu. She was at a Cinco de Mayo festival in Omaha, Nebraska when she slipped out of her seat. Her long hair was pulled into the machinery.

Her mother says she still can’t see out of one eye. Another surgery is scheduled for Thursday or Friday, Cooksey said.
