GASTONIA, N.C. – A teenage girl with a rare disorder had an incredible date to prom: Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith Sr.

Aubrey Bridges, 18, has autism and vein of Galen malformation, according to WBTV. Aubrey struggles with communication, but knew after seeing a video of Smith dancing that he would make the perfect prom date.

Dream on 3 coordinated the details of the night.

Smith asked his daughter to help him film a “promposal” asking Aubrey to be his date.

Aubrey, who uses sign language to communicate, replied to his message with a special communication device.

“Yes Steve. I want to be your prom date,” she responded.

Smith danced with Audrey in the middle of the dance floor all night. Aubrey’s family says earlier in the week, Smith visited Aubrey at home earlier in the week bringing her diamond earrings and necklace.

Her parents said the experience boosted Aubrey’s confidence.

“We see a new confidence we didn’t see before,” said mom Linda. “She has always been a really hard worker. She works from the time she comes home until bedtime on her studies because she’s very challenged with them. But tonight is the reward. Tonight is the validation. Tonight her story is being told because he is willing to share who he is with her. We couldn’t be more proud.”
