BLAUVELT, N.Y. – A group of strangers showed up o a funeral for a woman none of them ever met.
Ora Golda Weinbach wrote a Facebook post, asking if anyone would like to attend a funeral her dad, a rabbi, was presiding in Blauvelt, New York.
According to the post, the funeral director and the rabbi were the only people scheduled to attend.
“Every person deserves to be buried with dignity,” Marquis Home Care wrote on Facebook. They offered transportation to anyone willing to attend the 11 a.m. funeral.
In all, thirty people took time out of their days on August 16 to say goodbye to the woman none of them knew.
“This show of compassion is an example of what humanity is capable of,” wrote Marquis Home Care in a followup post after the funeral.
