CLEVELAND, Ohio – A man is looking forward to walking his daughter down the aisle, after spending a year recovering from a stroke he suffered while recovering from a lung transplant.
“Each day is a new day but they mean more and more to me now,” Tim Cox told WJW-TV.
Cox is a pastor from Charlotte, North Carolina. He was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, which causes progressive scarring of his lungs. His only hope of survival was getting a new set of lungs.
In May of last year, he finally got what he needed, but just 10 days later, he suffered a stroke.
Cox has been recovering in Cleveland, Ohio. His wife worried that he wouldn’t be able to walk his daughter down the aisle on her wedding day because of his condition.
“I play in my mind so much and he has such a special relationship with both of our daughters,” said Diane. “He really is a great dad.”
Cox will attend his daughter’s wedding on April 28 and will return to Cleveland to continue treatments. He will return home to North Carolina for good in May.
