DETROIT, Mich. – A video of a teen waking up for the first time after heart transplant surgery is going viral.

Trevor Sullivan, 15, of Detroit was diagnosed with severe cardiomyopathy in February 2015, according to ABC News.

His family says he wasn’t feeling well for about a year. They thought it was just allergies, but in February 2015 his heart suddenly failed. He had to be airlifted to a hospital.

He was added to a heart transplant list shortly after. On Nov. 12, they finally found a donor.

His mother filmed the first few moments after Trevor woke up, and his reaction is remarkable.

“I’m so happy,” he said in the video. “I’ve been waiting so long. I can breathe again and talk. I feel amazing. I’ve never felt so good.”

His mother, Kimberly, said “It felt better than the day he was born.”

The video was posted to the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital Facebook page, where it quickly went viral.

Trevor says he’s happy so many people have seen the video, and hopes that more people sign up to become organ donors.

The family has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to cover medical expenses. I you would like to donate, click here.
