BOULDER, Colo. – A father battling cancer is thanking hospital staff at Boulder Community Hospital in Colorado for going above and beyond to make sure he was able to witness the birth of his son.

Jessica Li and her fiance Cagney Wenk welcomed baby boy Levon on Sept. 18.

Just three weeks before his fiancee’s due date, Cagney got devastating news that he was diagnosed with stage four cancer.

According to the Huffington Post, Cagney was diagnosed with giloblastoma in his brain. He had been having headaches for three days.

He was in the ICU recovering from numerous surgeries when Jessica went into labor. Hospital staff transported him from the ICU to labor and delivery to witness son’s arrival.

The family asked photographer Sarah Boccolucci to document Levon’s birth. She told the Huffington Post that she hopes the video and story inspire people to make a donation to help the family with medical costs.

“My hope is that the family gets all the support they can and remain hopeful that Cagney will beat this cancer,” Boccolucci told the Huffington Post.
