NEWARK, Ohio – A group of police officers say it was an honor to escort their fallen comrade’s daughters to the homecoming dance.
Danville, Ohio police officer Thomas Cottrell was killed in the line of duty in January. His daughters, Courtney, Brooklyn and Alycia are still getting used to life without him.
“If he was here today he’d be telling us, ‘Don’t make stupid decisions, be nice, have fun,'” Brooklyn told WSYX.
Last weekend, the girls got a special police escort to the homecoming dance, thanks to their dad’s devoted colleagues.
Danville officers Mark Perkins and Josh Abshrine posed for photos with the girls and their dates.
“We want you to forever know we are here with you always,”said Perkins. “It’s an absolute honor for us to get to take your girls to the dance.”
