MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. – A 9-year-old boy is doing his part to make his community a better place.
Tyler Fugett recently collected more than 100 books to add to the Montgomery County Jail in Tennessee, after watching his own father go in and out of prison.
Tyler saved his money for months, and with some help from his mom, he traveled to a dozen stores around town to buy books for the inmates.
“I don’t want people to think bad things while they are in jail,” Tyler said. “I want people to get out and not do bad things again.”
According to a post by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Tyler started his own book charity, Time to Read, after learning about prison through his dad’s jail time.
The jail relies on donations from the community to stock their library.
Way to go, Tyler!
