HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. – Democrats are helping Republicans rebuild after authorities say someone torched a local GOP office in North Carolina.

Officials say someone threw a bottle filled with flammable liquid through the window of the Orange County Republican Party headquarters Saturday night. Spray painted on a nearby business were the words, “Nazi Republicans leave town or else.”

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton tweeted Sunday, “The attack on the Orange County HQ @NCGOP office is horrific and unacceptable. Very grateful that everyone is safe.”

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump later tweeted, “Animals representing Hillary Clinton and Dems in North Carolina just firebombed our office in Orange County because we are winning .”

Democrats quickly came together, raising money to rebuild the office. A GoFundMe page set up by self-declared democrats surpassed its $10,000 goal, raising $13,000.

“Until an investigation is undertaken, we cannot know who did this or why. No matter the result, this is not how Americans resolve their differences,” the group wrote on the GoFundMe page. “We talk, we argue, sometimes we march, and most of all we vote. We do not resort to violence by individuals or by mobs.”

Some are attributing the show of support to “a thirst for civility and democracy.”

Officials are investigating the case.
