HOUSTON – A 2-year-old boy is recovering from second-degree burns after his 5-year-old brother pulled him from the fiery wreckage of a crash that killed their stepfather.
“He’s a superhero to everybody. He just doesn’t even realize it,” grandmother Sandi Watkinstold KTRK.
Isiah, 5, and his 2-year-old brother, Jeremiah, were riding with their stepfather on Friday. He was driving a moving van from Michigan to Houston when they crashed. The stepfather died with the truck burst into flames.
Isiah quickly grabbed his brother from the van and pulled him to safety, waiting for help to arrive.
The boy’s grandmother flew to Houston after hearing about the crash.
She was able to get custody of the boys on short-notice thanks to notary Tracee Jordan.
“Once she explained the situation I immediately recalled the story from Friday,” said Jordan.
Not only did Jordan do all the notary work for free, but she also set up a GoFundMe page, so people can donate to the family.
“Total strangers but friends for life, that what she told me. We’re friends for life,” Watkins told KTRK.
